JAKARTA: Indonesia experienced highest increase in import in April by 32.54% to US$14.98 billion from US$11.24 billion, Indonesia's Central Statistics Agency said.
Deputy of Distribution and Service Statistics Djamal stated April's was realized at 2.8% higher than March. In April, oil and gas imports grew 35.8% compared to March, while non-oil fell 5.25%.
Cumulative import value, he continued, from January to April amounted to US$53.69 billion, up 30.32% over the same period in 2010.
Non-oil and gas import was booked at US$41.4 with billion to which China was the largest non-oil and gas contributor with US$7.47 billion, Japan with US$5.75 billion and Thailand with US$3.49 billion.
During January-April, import of capital goods decreased by 17.16% than the same period in 2010. Import of raw materials increased by 74.86%, and consumer goods rose by 7.98%. (T05/NOM)
